Working at UBC orientations, with GALA (international student orientation) as an Assistant Coordinator. It has been fun, over the past 2 weeks working here. Not too much has been happening so far, school starting pretty soon again. But at least I get to sleep in now that I have night classes instead. YIPPIE NO MORE LABS!!!

Thats about it,

Next few days,

Airport Reception duty at YVR.

My first time in Palo Alto, California.    Got to finally visit the "great" ivy league school, Stanford University.  I was envisioning the pictures of old buildings (like in the those harvard pictures), but they didn't seem as vibrant once you got there.  There were two buildings that stood out on the map, one called the Enchanted Broccoli Forest, and the other, Narnia.  I got to admit, those are some "interesting" names for places at a school.  Anyways, it was nice to visit Stanford for the first time, I guess I just had some picture in my head of what it was going to look like, and it just didn't fit my expectations.  But still, it is a very nice campus, bigger than UBC possibly.   But they don't have a beach like at UBC or forest.  So I probably would miss both.   California seems to love to have "manufactured" landscaping.  Like random palm trees, grassy patches....one tree in front of building...etc.

Oh well, still got sucked into buying Stanford shirts.   Gotta support those Ivy Leagues schools.

Well, my last work break of the summer is over with.

Managed to do a lot.

First, on friday night, I watched my first baseball game live. With two friends of mine, Brittany and Mike. San Francisco Giants vs Philidelphia Phillies, at the AT&T Ball Park in San Francisco. It was going to my first game, the atmosphere was so different than any other sports event I've been to. We got decent seats, behind home plate, but hey, baseball games are long, and it is hard to focus on the game for long periods of time. So, Brittany decided she wanted to go to the "Build a Bear Workshop", to get a SF Giants Seal, so that actually took 3 innings to make. It was fun, except for the fact that the workers are slow, and the wind from the bay was making life horrible for anyone just standing there. SOOOO COLD!
Anyways, Phillies were 3-0 up to about the 3rd inning, and then amazing the Giants managed to catch up with a home run, with bases loaded. So... SF ended up winning 5-3. It was CRAZY, how loud the croud was, and the fun game atomsphere. It was definately worth going to my first baseball game.

Saturday, Spent the time with my Aunt and Uncle. Went out for some Dim Sum. Then went to see the "crooked street" with all the cool flowers, with my cousin (little 5 year old) and Aunt and Uncle. It was cool, taking pictures like a crazy tourist again. Brings back the memories. Then we headed off to Ghiradelli Square, the yummy chocolate factory. Had a Warm Brownie Hot Fudge Sundae, it was SOOO...good! Definately worth it. Then later, we were taken out by other relatives for another chinese dinner.

Sunday, aunt and uncle again, went to City hall. it definately looks 100times better than the one we have back in Vancouver. It was cool, passed by a farmers market there and got some kettle corn for the first time. Yum Yum! Then more shopping....

Back at res now in Berkeley, waiting for my last pre-session meeting for leadership camp for the summer

Current in Portland right now, awaiting for my transfer to Oakland Airport, and then UC-Berkeley.

For some reason there are a ton of air force jets flying around this airport, continously, I wonder what they are doing or what they are looking for?

Not too much to do right now in the airport, battery is at 70% ish.   Gotta find a plug soon.

Another Day is Microbiology:

Had the last microbiology seminar for this year, for students interested in microbiology, it went pretty well, had about 40 people show up.   They were interested.  I think.

Interesting that 270 people are currently declared as microbiology but only 82 spots are available for them.  As well there are many people who don't declare microbiology who still apply.  There is going to be some tough competition here.

It is getting kidda sad that I'm almost graduating.  Microbiology has been fun---The people just make it so much better.   Its gonna be different not seeing the same old group every day, so many changes.  Many people are going travelling, working, professional and graduate schools.  We're all departing each other.
